1. An Illustrated Guide to Virginia's Confederate Monuments by Timothy S. Sedore (SIU Press, 2011).
This book documents 360 monument sites and organizes them geographically. For each, the author includes a photo, location, inscription, and construction information, as well as subject background history.
2. The Crimean War: A History by Orlando Figes (Henry Holt, 2011).
I've been meaning to read some kind of single volume treatment of the entire Crimean War. This one looks good, although the maps leave something to be desired.
