Reminiscing Books, a local North Carolina publisher previously unknown to me, has released a really nice new book titled
Fear in North Carolina: The Civil War Journals and Letters of the Henry Family (compiled and edited by Karen L. Clinard and Richard Russell). Chock-full of maps, photos, and other materials supplementing the core compilation, the attractive end product reveals a great deal of effort on the part of publisher and editor. It's on the review pile, but it's probably safe to say the book should serve as a fine resource for researchers of the Civil War in the western part of the state.
