The first edition of Warren's 2nd Cabin Creek study was printed in hardcover back in 2002 by Gregath under the title Brilliant Victory: The Second Civil War Battle of Cabin Creek, Indian Territory. Articles exist, but it marked the first time this particular battle was accorded book length treatment. I don't have the hardback available for direct comparison, and there's no mention in the front of the paperback of any revisions or new information, so I can't really say whether any improvements were incorporated into the second edition.

ReplyDeleteThere is newly revised information to be found in the paperback edition of "The Second Battle of Cabin Creek: Brilliant Victory." There are 50 images in this new edition, including a never-before published photo (actually one of the only photos known) of an elderly 1st LT David M. Sutherland who was in command of the detachment of 1st Kansas Colored Infantry at the battle of Flat Rock, Indian Territory on Sept. 16, 1864. There's also information on his exciting life after the war.
