. Now we all know there isn't a chance in hell that these books get a collective release anywhere near the tightly bunched dates given but the important thing is they will all see the light of day sometime.The atlas and Wise's Forks volumes interest me the most. Mark Moore is a special cartographer and Mark Smith and Wade Sokolosky's followup to their sterling No Such Army... has been on my radar for years.

ReplyDelete"Now we all know there isn't a chance in hell that . . ." I actually laughed out loud. Great line. Here is an update on some scheduling. We have a wonderful full color book on the Gettysburg Cyclorama by three park rangers that is drop-dead fascinating with detail about the painting, etc. not found elsewhere. That is edited and being formatted beginning next week. The NC Atlas by Mark Moore is DONE and the final design edits are being tweaked now. Craig Symonds is writing the Foreword. Both that and the Cyclorama book, together with "The Maps of Chickamauga" reprint, will go to the printer in January for a May release. No issues there.
One month later Gottfried's The Maps of the Wilderness" goes to the printer also hopeful for an early May release.
Smith's and Sokolosky's Wise's Forks is a great battle stud (with lots of maps), and . it will be on time, as will be Robertson's "Resisting Sherman." (Note we are also revising and updating Smith's and Sokolosky's "No Such Army" for Fall 2015.)
Chickamauga, Vol. 2 by Powell will be out in the Spring 2015 also. It is done and being edited now.
The only straggler might be Barringer, but we are hopeful that we can "Drano" this bottleneck with the addition of at least one more developmental editor.
Also, Rob Girardi's and Paula Walker's Warren bio is in the hands of an editor now, as is Schmutz's Fifth Texas, both looking toward March or April 2015.
Finally, Tom Ryan's Gettysburg Intelligence book is being designed so nearing final stages; Horn's Weldon RR battles book goes to the printer next week, as does the Hood Paper's book.
Busy times at Ridgemont High.
And for those who have asked, "The Gettysburg Campaign Encyclopedia" (Gottfried and Savas) is in final stages of editing, 99% of the entries are in, and were it not for having to actually do laundry, eat, and sleep, it would already be out. It is coming . . .2015 looks like a sure bet.
