He actually screwed up the entire operation at Shiloh with his plan. This also cast a bad light on General Johnston because he allowed Beauregard to pretty much run the army. General Hardee once said that Johnston didn't have the strength of character to force his subordinates to do his will.Tim Kenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02678554985222437552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-80275381571411451662011-07-05T14:46:11.791-07:002011-07-05T14:46:11.791-07:00Hello

However, publication wasn't going to be until 2012. LSU press was doing it.

Don HallstromAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-19914356109376051022011-07-05T13:56:09.770-07:002011-07-05T13:56:09.770-07:00If it's true he's dropped it permanently, ...If it's true he's dropped it permanently, that would be very disappointing indeed.DW@CWBAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00018056113264346047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-69059908632854376992011-07-05T13:13:44.855-07:002011-07-05T13:13:44.855-07:00Disappointed hearing that about Cozzens and Shiloh...Disappointed hearing that about Cozzens and Shiloh. Heard from another source that he's said this before and has returned so maybe he'll come back for Shiloh, but it most likely won't be for the 150th.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08528725361910007225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-84564508045114721282011-07-04T21:52:36.445-07:002011-07-04T21:52:36.445-07:00I'll read this, but I'm not sure if I'...I'll read this, but I'm not sure if I'll buy it. I've read his Vicksburg book...more along the lines of "popular" history. I didn't learn much from it, but enjoyed it nevertheless. Any book-length treatment of Shiloh is welcome. I turn 40 a few days after the 150th of Shiloh and may go there for the anniversary.

Joel Manuel
Baton Rouge LAJoel Manuelhttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=562190500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-62301117211126702812011-07-04T17:05:38.862-07:002011-07-04T17:05:38.862-07:00Hello Drew

I believe he has turned his writing to other fields.

I'm sorry to see this, I enjoyed his writing.

Regarding western Campaigns, I understand Larry Daniel is working on something. I've also heard Robertson is working on Chickamauga.

Don HallstromAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-27710307516480216622011-07-04T11:33:02.061-07:002011-07-04T11:33:02.061-07:00Interesting. I thought his books on the 1864 Tennessee Campaign and Vicksburg were decent even if they weren't groundbreaking.

Cozzens on Shiloh should be fascinating.

ChrisChris Evansnoreply@blogger.com
