It would be a nice companion to his Shiloh and Army of the Cumberland books.
ChrisChris Evansnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-62793115699663337812009-07-24T17:23:05.799-07:002009-07-24T17:23:05.799-07:00Loved the list. Although I'm not a Shiloh expert, and haven't read all your 7, I do like the Daniel book, and glad to see it up there.

Larry TaggAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16471073.post-82367417040334138412009-07-24T14:19:54.447-07:002009-07-24T14:19:54.447-07:00I actually like McDonough's book, though I kno...I actually like McDonough's book, though I know it's unpopular to say anything nice about the guy in the wake of the plagiarism charges with the Atlanta book (seems it's OK for Stephen Ambrose and D. K. Goodwin to do the same thing, though). It's concise and clear, and when it diverges from the opinions expressed by others the author doesn't duck it, he points it out. Have been to the battlefield three times( one trip I went to the battlefield over three different days). Always like reading something new about it. That's why I got a kick out of Horwitz devoting a whole chapter to it in 'Confederates in the Attic' back in 1998. Chris Evansnoreply@blogger.com
