Comments: Savas Beatie has something CW-related coming out nearly every month, but I don't know what they might have in store for February. I've mentioned the Cherokee Artillery book before as a most welcome rarity in the unit history category. I'm also curious about the Elliott book, not so much about special interest in the man himself but more about the Charleston coverage it will offer. Of all the February titles, the clear number one on my list is the Rein regimental history. A Second Colorado Cavalry study has been on the wishlist of many a Trans-Miss. reader.
A Series of Colossal Mistakes comes out February 20.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray. I did see that one, but I tend not to include digital-only materials and reprints in the "Coming Soon" lists.
DeleteMorning all,
ReplyDeleteMost of our titles this January-February are reprints of books that sold out quickly (Peach Orchard, Spangler Farm, and Lee is Trapped). We will have four bound galleys for advance review in February with late spring releases:
"Defending the Arteries of Rebellion: Confederate Naval Operations in the Mississippi River Valley, 1861-1865," by Neil P. Chatelain;
The Young Adult edition of "The War Outside My Window: The Civil War Diary of LeRoy Wiley Gresham, 1860-1865," Jan Croon, ed.;
"Seceding from Secession: The Civil War, Politics, and the Creation of West Virginia, by Eric Wittenberg, et. al.;
And, the Revolutionary War battle history "Germantown: A Military History of the Battle for Philadelphia, October 4, 1777," by Michael C. Harris, which is the follow up to Harris's "Brandywine."
Work is underway on "Tullahoma: The Forgotten Campaign that Changed the Course of the Civil War, June 23 - July 4, 1863," by David A. Powell and Eric J. Wittenberg and hope to have it in galley in 60 days.
:The Maps of the Cavalry at Gettysburg: An Atlas of Mounted Operations from Brandy Station Through Falling Waters, June 9 – July 14, 1863," by Brad Gottfried, just went to the printer, as did reprints of Maps of Chickamauga, and Maps of Antietam;
My own "A Series of Colossal Mistakes: Why Sherman's Failure to Destroy the Augusta Powder Works Prolonged the Civil War," by Theodore P. Savas, a Spotlight series title, is digital only (and I need to finish that up.
Thanks.
