With some notable exceptions, it seems to be more and more the case now that publishers are leaving the middle part of the year comparatively open and end-loading their release schedules. Maybe the process has never been quite as evenly dispersed as I recall it to have been just a few years ago, but having so many of the best-sounding titles come out in late fall and early winter necessarily stresses my available reading time and delays my list. It also doesn't help that the time between release date and actual arrival of review copies keeps getting longer. Anyway, these are the reasons why it's nearly the end of January and my year-end book "awards" list still hasn't appeared on the site. However, this weekend I decided that enough was enough and it was time to just get the list out regardless of how many 2017 titles I still wanted to read.
Look for it tomorrow.
