Blood on the Bayou
It's still on the other side of the horizon, but we do have a tentative release date for the third volume of Don Frazier's "quadrille" detailing Civil War military actions and campaigns in Texas and Louisiana. We've all seen promising series peter out and it's great that the momentum has been maintained with this one. The title, Blood on the Bayou: Vicksburg, Port Hudson, and the Trans-Mississippi (State House Press), clearly hints at what the content will be and is what we expected given what the author stated in past interviews.

I agree. Gordon Rhea had such momentum and then for some reason has never gotten around to finishing the fifth volume of his series.

Love Dr Frazier books. One complaint however, make the maps bigger or put them on a website in a larger format. These old eyes don't work very will anymore.
ReplyDeleteHello Drew and followers
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts on large scope projects. Specifically, I'm very interested in what Chris has stated. Drew do you or anyone that follows this blog have any concrete information on whether Gordon is going to finish the 5th volume? I did speak to LSU a while ago and they seemed to insinuate he was working on completing it. I'll be going to an event in the spring that he will be at, I certainly plan on asking him.
Keep up the good work.
