The History of Jackson County, Florida: The War Between the States

Civil War Florida author and blogger Dale Cox mentioned today that his book The History of Jackson County, Florida: The War Between the States is now available. Part of a county history series, it picks up where the first volume The History Of Jackson County, Florida: The Early Years left off.

As he covers a variety of Civil War engagements in understudied regions that are particular favorites of mine, I always look forward to Cox's well researched and written books.

I've reviewed three of his previously published battles studies, all of them well worthwhile:
1. The Battle of Marianna, Florida
2. The Battle of Natural Bridge, Florida: The Confederate Defense of Tallahassee
3. The Battle of Massard Prairie: The 1864 Confederate Attacks on Fort Smith, Arkansas

  1. Excellent! The history of Jackson Co., FL is the history of most of NW FL. Really appreciate the effort made to support all statements contained in the book. Many of today's NW FL residents have no real knowledge of the history of this area - wish everyone would read it and find their own ancestors!
