CWBA Milestone: Book Review #1,000!
Today's post also marks the publication of the site's 1,000th full review. Cue the balloons and fireworks. I guess I don't have much more to say about it. At least in the short term, the future holds pretty much the same as before. While it's becoming more challenging to produce content (sadly, the number of submissions seem to decline now with every passing year), I remain motivated to keep curating what does come my way. Thanks to all the readers, patrons, authors, and publishers who have supported the site over the years. I hope you still find it worth your while to keep coming back.

Well, who knew? That's a major milestone. The reviews here are unlike those elsewhere in their detail, insights, and evaluations in light of the existing literature. With all the material being marketed, it's essential to see something that gives a reliable assessment for folks figuring out how to choose. And to think that the bell was rung by a Peninsula Campaign study. Win-win.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John!
DeleteI did engineer it so the Peninsula book got to be #1000.
Congratulations! Writing 1,000 analytical reviews is quite an impressive achievement. I’m appreciative of all the effort you put into crafting your reviews, book notes, and upcoming releases. Of course, my favorites are the ones dealing with the trans-Mississippi!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane!
DeleteBravo, Drew! Well done. I cannot think of any other Civil War book reviewer who can match this achievement. More importantly, I do not know of any other reviewer who matches the depth and quality found in your reviews. Now, get back to work on the next 1,000 reviews!
ReplyDeleteThank you, John! And thank you for your support over the years, too.
DeleteCongratulations Drew! Your reviews are the best of the best

Thanks for the support, Curt!
DeleteMany Congratulations on such a extraordinary achievement Drew!
ReplyDeleteMy wallet has been lightened plenty and my bookshelves near buckled under the weight of the books purchased due to your thoughtful and insightful reviews.
Here's to a 1000 more!
John Gourlie
Thanks for the kind thoughts, John. I will certainly keep going.
DeleteCongrats from a longtime reader! Love the reviews on a subject I have been enthralled in since I was five and with my folks visited Fort Morgan in Mobile Bay and learned bit by bit the epic nature of this conflict. You have one of the best Civil War sites ever! Thanks for all the work.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Chris! Thanks for the compliment.
DeleteAnd thank you for taking time away from your busy Marvel shoots to come here.
DeleteToo funny! I was my Chris Evans before the other. I suppose if I get to publish my Civil War novel(s) people will think HE wrote them. Well I'll take the money anyhow.
DeleteDrew,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I’m pretty sure I’ve read all 1000 and enjoyed every one of them. Your reviews are the epitome of what us serious Civil War bibliophiles depend upon before making a decision to purchase. You do both authors and readers a great service.
Thank you!
Bill
Thanks, Bill. It's good to hear from you! Been awhile.
